Product Care

Jewelry
Your jewelry is built to last however it is not indestructible. With a few do’s and don’ts you can keep your jewelry looking beautiful for decades to come.
Do
- Keep your jewelry clean by washing with a mild soap detergent and very soft brush. Dry your piece completely before storing.
- Keep your jewelry away from the humidity and store it in an airtight container for best results.
- Tarnish happens, polish your metal with a soft polish cloth. I recommend Sunshine Polishing Cloths. Do not rub the cloth aggressively on areas that you want to stay dark for detail/dimension purposes.
- Wear your jewelry on adventures but…Read below
Don’t
- Don’t wear your jewelry while doing activities that would involve scratching the metal or stone, submerging it in water or debris.
- Always remove your jewelry before coming into contact with chemicals. This includes oils and body products.
- Avoid smacking the stone against surfaces. Some stones are more durable than others but you never know when a nature made material will decide that it's had too much and break. This is especially true with materials that are porous like turquoise, variscite, opals and sand stones to name a few.

Stones
Each stone is unique. Where one stone might be strong and resilient like an agate or jasper, another may be delicate and porous like turquoise or opal.
Here are some things you should know.
- There is always a chance that a stone will break during setting or while being worn. Whether it had a hidden crack in the stone, broke while setting, or got dropped, I am not responsible for broken rocks.
- Always keep your turquoise, variscite and sand stones (Chicken Tracks, Disaster Peak, other similar type stones) away from water, oils and chemicals. Not only does getting them wet and redrying make the stone more brittle, it can also permanently discolor the stone and unfortunately there's nothing that can be done about that.
- Always educate your customers on how to take care of their stones.
- I primarily work with Australian Opal which is more durable than others but opals are still very fragile gems. They can easily scratch and I always recommend removing the jewelry before any activity that could scratch it, or expose it to moisture, chemicals, sweat or extreme temperature changes.
