Kintarsia Cabochon

Holly Blue, and a thick wavy sterling silver band make up this cut. The sterling silver has some casting flaws and has a couple of visible pits in the silver.  A clear agate back to allows the light to pass through the translucent areas of stone to keep that natural agate glow. Cuts are lower dome with higher bezel edges than my usual cuts. Backs are polished. Photographed in outdoor overcast light. Large ring/statement size.

This new technique is completely of my own design and has been developed over countless hours in the shop. "Kintarsia" uses both theory and practices of intarsia and kintsugi -  seamlessly blending stone and sterling silver into these unique gems.
